Top 10 Do It Yourself Home Remedies

To start off, I am an avid Pinner. If it looks cool I pin it and try it out most of the time. I like to try recipes and anything that makes deep cleaning easier so I have decided to create a list of my top favorite Pinterest DIY Home Remedies. Most of the pins that you’ll see below are ones that I have tried.

My favorite one on the list is the first one. My husband and I bought an apartment and it seriously had not been cleaned in 10 years. The dryer sheet remedy on Pinterest made dusting everything significantly easier.

There are many herbal and home remedies out there especially on Pinterest. The focus of this article is on home remedies. Home remedies are solutions that people can use with products they have at home, such as baking soda, vinegar, dryer sheets, etc. Herbal remedies tend to be more complicated and include multiple herbs and products that people don’t usually already have in their home. Herbs like aloe vera, basil, cinnamon, etc.

Now to the good stuff. Here are the Top 10 do it yourself home remedies that we found on Pinterest.

1. Dryer sheets to clean baseboards

This is probably one of the easiest DIY home remedies out there. All you have to do is take a dryer sheet and rub it on your baseboards. The materials in the dryer sheets that keep lint off your clothes make it so the dust doesn’t stick onto the baseboards. Therefore you don’t have to dust as often.

The dryer sheets also work on fans and blinds.

 2. Table salt to remove grease stains from furniture

One of the joys of having kids or people over to watch a game is the fact that food gets spilled on the furniture. Most stains can be removed quickly but grease stains are more difficult.

In order to get grease stains out of the furniture rub table salt on the spot as soon as possible. Leave the salt there for at least 30 minutes to absorb the grease then brush or vacuum the salt away. Other sources also mention that this can work on grease stains on clothes.

5. Get rid of those really bad zits

It’s a terrible thing on the day of an interview, dance, etc. and there is a big red zit ready to ruin everything. This tactic is apparently used by makeup artists on models before runway shows.

All you have to do is open an Advil gel cap and apply to the zit directly. It reduces the redness and swelling right away. It’s as simple as that.

Grout is very difficult to clean. Most people use a regular grout or tile cleaner but this mix looks like something to use.

Here is the recipe: 7 cups of water, ½ cup of baking soda, 1/3 cup of ammonia (or lemon juice), and ¼ cup of vinegar.

Spray the mixture on grout, leave for an hour then scrub like crazy with a scrub brush. It should take off the gunk after one application.

7. Shower head cleaner

Shower heads are always a pain to clean. This mixture should make it much simpler to clean. First get a large plastic bag and fill it with 1/3 cup of baking and then 1 cup of vinegar. After it’s mixed take the bag and place it over the shower head and use a large twisty tie to secure the bag.

Keep the bag on the shower head overnight; at least for 2 to 3 hours. Take the shower head off and wipe if down before using. The residue and build up should be gone.
